What have you been up to since 1965?: My college years took me to Hutch Juco, Wichita State and Emporia State where I graduated in 1972.  During those years I married Chris Angulo,
from Wichita and my son Paul was born.  After graduation we lived in Dallas for several years and in 1978 we divorced and I moved to Estes Park,
Colorado.  I still own a cabin there and I visit there as often as I am able. I met and married Dan Howland in Colorado in 1980. We lived in Texas for
a number of years where our daughters were born and then moved to Bradenton Florida where we have been for 20 years.

In 1981 I began working as a travel agent and I worked in that field for over 30 years.  It was a great job. There was always something new to
learn about and the best part was that I was able to travel to many wonderful destinations.

I retired last year and have kept myself busy by getting into genealogy, which I have always been interested in.  I am also a yoga practitioner which
keeps me young and active. I have 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren which are my greatest joy.

I agree with the sentiment of several others that we were very lucky to grown up when and where we did.  The values we learned growing up
have always served me and I have tried to instill them in my children and grandchildren, plus how many people can say at 68 years old they can still
recite the Prologue to the Canterbury Tails in Old English?

What have you been up to since 1965?: Some of you know, I met my future husband, John the summer of my Junior year. Three months later, we were engaged. He was an older man, six years older than me. So my Senior year was spent planning my wedding in Home & Family class. We were married June, 1965. We had our first son, JD  in October, 1966. In February, 1967, we moved to the Kansas City area. Our daughter, Julie was born in August, 1969.  We became Foster Parents and adopted our youngest son, James in 1975.  I stayed home with the kids until they started school. I had an in home day care and worked with a church pre-school.
I was a secretary for the Kansas City Branch of J & S Scale Company. John worked at J & S in Hutchinson while we lived there. John had always wanted to have his own business so in 1985, we started our own company, Electronic Scale Systems Inc., in Merriam, Kansas. We moved the business to Kansas City, Kansas. I was the Office Manager, Girl Friday and John was in Sales. Our business steadily grew and was good to us. In 1998, our son Jim was killed in a car accident, four days after his 25th birthday.
In May, 2000, I was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer, had surgery, lost my right kidney, but did not need further treatment. July, 2000, my husband was in a horrific accident with a semi truck hitting him. He suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and it disabled him. In 2001, I sold our business because John could no longer work. So we retired then.  John died in 2009, from Brain Cancer.
We have four grandsons, a great grandson and great granddaughter.
I live in the country in Platte County, Missouri. I have an Australian Shepard, Ellie and a Golden, Buddy.
I like to travel and  have done so with family and friends. Last year I went to Ireland where some of our ancestors came from. I took my daughter and daughter-in-law on a girl's trip to Italy.  Have friends in Germany.
This will be my first reunion I have attended. I can't believe it has been 50 years!!

What have you been up to since 1965?: After college, I came back to Hutch and joined the family lumber business...Davis Lumber & Hardware located at 732 East 1st.  My oldest brother (Jon) and I worked together from 1969 to 1983.  We were 50/50 partners.  With interest rates over 20% in the early 1980s, contractor and truss sales plummeted.  In 1983 I shut the truss plant and started a real estate development and construction company.  From 1984 though 1987, I built 116 apartments north of Hutchinson Regional Hospital on 24th St.  My company also leased and managed these apartments.  In 1984, I earned a real estate brokers license.   In 1988, the construction industry came to a halt again, and I obtained a real estate general appraisers license.  In the next few years, I found my niche in real estate sales.  For the last 18 years I have owned Realty Executives 4Results, Inc..  We currently have 12 agents who office at 111 East 30th in Hutchinson.  I am still very active helping clients buy and sell property (over 1500 transactions to date).
Two years ago I completed an 80 acre subdivision called The Dunes (www.thedunes.biz) which is located just west of Mayfield Road on the north side of 43rd.  Lot sizes range from 3-5 acres with plenty of trees and rolling sand hills topography.  I am just finishing a Model Home which backs up to a private lake shared by four lots.  The log-sided home looks like it is in the mountains (www.4308westredtail.com).
I have two children, Leah and Luke, who both went through the Hutchinson school system .  Both graduated from Kansas University.  Leah teaches kindergarten at 83rd and Mission in the Shawnee Mission East District (Kansas City, Kansas).  She is married to Jon Huntley who teaches 8th grad mathematics in the Lees Summit school district (Independence, Missouri).  They have two sons...Sam (12) and Gus (8).  They live in Leawood, Kansas.
Luke is the Chief Operating Officer for Forum Real Estate in Denver which owns and manages 4500 apartments from Colorado to Florida to Michigan.  He is married to Allison who is an elementary school teacher currently teaching in a local pre-school.  The have two girls...Anna (7) and Natalie (5).  They live in South Bowmar, Littleton, Colorado.
I am married to Trish Rose (Rose Motors family) who was a practicing attorney for over 30 years.  Trish served on the Hutchinson City Council as both Vice-Mayor and Mayor of Hutchinson.  She ran for District Judge in Reno County and was elected 5 years ago and re-elected last year.  She has two sons and two grandsons with a third grandchild on the way.
We love to travel, especially to National Parks and State Parks in the United States and Canada.  We both enjoy the outdoors - hiking, climbing, sailing, and kayaking.  We also love to read.  And, of course, we love to spoil our grandkids.

What have you been up to since 1965?: I attended Hutchinson Junior College for one year than transferred to the University of Kansas where I received a BS "With Distinction" from the William Allen White School of Journalism (probably because Bob Hartzler (HHS Class of 1966) and I went to Kansas City and did an article on the Black Panthers.) I worked for a year at a paper in East St. Louis then hitchhiked with my first wife throughout Western and Eastern Europe for a year, picking up menial jobs now and then.  We also went to Kenya for a few weeks.  Upon returning I went to work for the Kansas City Star as a reporter in Shawnee Mission.  After three years and a divorce I went back to KU to get a master's degree in clinical social work.  I worked in Rapid City, SD as a psychotherapist for 20 years, mostly in a private practice. I specialized in certain types of court evaluations and also worked with adults and couples.  In 1998, my wife Mary (who grew up in Halstead, although we met in Rapid City, where she was practicing law) and I took a mid-life sabbatical to Santa Fe, NM with our two adopted children.  After a year or so we couldn't imagine returning to Rapid City and instead, set aside our professional practices, and started Santa Fe Quilting, a fabric and sewing supply store, which we have been operating since 2000.  Hardest work I have ever done. My son and daughter are grown and still live in Santa Fe.  My wife and I are currently raising our seven-year-old granddaughter, which has made us realize, why it is much better to raise children when you are 30 or so years younger!  After our children were raised I became an unprogrammed Quaker and I am very active in the two Santa Fe Meetings.
